Damage was released by Siberia in 1996. Produced by Richie Kessler for Necessary Records this was the first official CD written and performed by Randy Farmer & John (West) Mitchell as the band Siberia. Damage did well on college radio and for the band locally giving them their first taste of what it was going to be like working together as a touring band. Necessary Records released Damage and it was also the first official release for them giving Siberia a much needed outlet and evreryone managed to gain some national attention. A good amount of time was spent playing locally in NYC at places like Mercury Lounge, The Rodeo Bar, AKA, CBGB's Wetlands and Under Acme. Most of the players that came in to work on Damage were session players and some of them went on to do some pretty amazing things. Nir Z played with Genesis when Phil Collins was out, Vinnie Miranda toured extensively with Dido for years and the list goes on. Siberia's Touring band was put together after the record was released.(some name dropping) We're very grateful and proud of Annie Husick's contribution on Bass in the Touring Band who went on to sing with Wilson Pickett and still sings with Ronnie Spector, who was just inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame. She sent me an email recently the other day where she's standing next to Bruce Springstein performing on stage at Carnegie Hall. Chad Royce another great talent, went on to tour extensively with Dare Diablo and Swimmer who should have been the next Bowie. Chad has just produced Michelle Ndegeocello's
latest record and has a long list of production credits from his new production company so all's well with him.
Matt Hageman who was John's right hand man on guitar on the road is out there still doing the local scene, writing and recording new material all the time, and for me has was always the best guitar player that I had ever worked with and always a lot of fun. I'm sure we'll be hearing from him soon. Stay tuned for the news on Siberia's latest album which was just completed.
