Acoustic folk-rock with guts, mainly Celtic, with some central European and Mediterranean spice

FOLK: Modern Folk, WORLD: Celtic

Details:
What would The Chieftains jamming with the Roadrunner sound like? It might very well be Ceili Moss! Often described as the Belgian Pogues.

This is the reedition of the 2001 first full-length CD by these acoustic folk-rock ramblers, enhanced with excerpts from their 1998 demo tape and 1999 artisanal live CD.

------------------------------------------

It's been five years since the music of Ceili Moss began to travel between Scotland, Ireland and Brittany. From Belgium, this Irish-oriented quartet gives out party music full of an irreplaceable pleasure to play. Pop compos, arrangements of Celtic traditionals, everything is but a reason to party and to enjoy.
(MP3 magazine-Netzik, summer 2001)

I strongly recommend this CD that presents 4 personal compos, 2 adaptations and 6 traditionals. Bodhran, flutes, accordion, most of the usual instruments are there (some bagpipes missing maybe?) and it's emotionnally and rythmically rather fascinating. The lead vocals remind me of Kermess and it's quite surprising to learn this band is Belgian!.
(Dévor'rock, july 2001)

Belgian band with a fantastic repertoire. Strongly recommended! (The Celtic Muse, june 2001)
