Details:
Sophie Moleta is a singer, songwriter, composer and music teacher with an intimate singing style. She is best known for her piano backed vocals in what can be described as 'folk pop', but has a wide range of recorded music with dance and house music, electronic ambient, laid back jazz and other styles. Her music is personal, generally sparse but always with seductive beautiful vocals.

Sophie grew up and started her career in Western Australia and has travelled widely and performed and recorded in the UK, France, Europe, New Zealand and Australia.

The album "Every Girl I Know Deserves a Packet of Stars" includes songs composed in the recent three years while living in Wellington New Zealand. Sophie began teaching music to children - and at the first concert she gave each of the performers a packet of star stickers. The girls all came to their next lessons with the stickers all over their music folders - inspiring the title song to the album.

Included in this album are fourteen songs and a bonus video track of the "Te-Atawhai" song. The song on the video was written about a young girl Te-Atawhai who Sophie met in early 2005. The recording of this track, and the video, were partly funded by a grant from NZONAIR in 2006.

Two of the tracks, "Fly" and "Rub Your Shoulders" were recorded live in Singapore in August 2005.

The songs are primarily piano/vocals although the title song is an electronic production in a hip hop style with a rap portion - the production by Nic Hartley and co-produced and rap by Monwa.

This album will reward repeated listens. The album notes contain more information on each track.

And Sophie's MySpace page, www.myspace.com/sophiemoleta contains further information on Sophie - as does her website, www.sophiemoleta.com
