FOURWARD - The new CD of What4
"All behind" is the name of the song with which Germany's biggest private TV station ProSieben proofed that a naturally grown band catches audiences even in the times of casting shows. The intense Song with the catchy refrain enthused the team of the TV station as well as the huge audience that heard the song several weeks in spring 2003 during the broadcaster's blockbuster campaign.
What4 is modern alternative rock with atmospheric melodies, driving grooves and a charismatic voice. Ralf Strassner voice reminds of characterful singers like Eddie Vedder (Pearl Jam), Chad Kroeger (Nickelback) or Scott Stapp (Creed) and keeps though his own character. Supported by Andi Kiesel's powerful guitar playing, Martin Motnik's Punchy bass and Michael Molls groovy drums, What4 enthuses the audience with a great spectrum of virtuously performed catchy tunes.
The new CD "FOURWARD" is an album of 13 songs that show the power and variability of the band. The songs sound more rough and more authentic than the first album. What4 once again turned to longtime friend, co-producer and sound engineer Frank Motnik to ensure that they captured the anthemic guitars, dramatic vocals and bold lyrics that have made the band's powerful sound. What4 recorded the new album in several studios in Frankfurt, Munich and near Heidelberg. On "Something we can do", written by What4's former drummer Matthias Welsch, the band was joined by American rapper Larry Love and Chantal Hartmann, who also added several backing vocals to some tracks.
But the biggest strengths of What4 are on stage. The band enjoys performing their powerful songs to live audiences and to win more and more fans. The musical interplay of the 4 members and the live presence of those 4 personalities are the marks of What4. It is essential to enter as many stages as possible to prove what the press affirmed the band many times: What4 can fascinate a big audience with their music and their show.
