Lori recorded 2 albums in Nashville, then she, her husband and 3 children flew away to work in Spanish speaking countries in the area of humanitarian service for the next sixteen years.
When Lori arrived in the Canary Islands of Spain, she had to decide if she would leave her musical abilities behind, or learn to not only sing in Spanish, but also write and produce future albums in this new language. She didnât have a clue about how to communicate in Spanish! Music is her love language so she decided to experience the languish of soul it would take and strive to write music that even a Spaniard would love to listen to. Since that decision, this lady has recorded/produced 7 albums, 3 in Spanish and 4 in English! Lori had her own radio show called, âLa Mujer De Montana,â (The lady from Montana!) She was quite the rarity as she was the only foreigner invited to sing in her city's Flamenco festivals! Not only did she do concerts in Spanish, she became a breath of fresh air to the international community. One high-light was being the key performer of a gala at the Crystal Palace in which some of the highest ranking politicians of Madrid were in attendance. Contrast that with Lori singing completely in Spanish to the poorest of the poor in Mexico...both crowds equally important to her.
Life seemed to stop when Lori and her husband faced the reality they could not return to Spain because of a serious illness her husband was diagnosed with. They knew their children needed to be in the U.S. and Lori had reached her own personal crisis from 8 OVERSEAS moves and all the adjustments each required. A few years has now passed since they have settled back in Montana, years filled with great struggle to get on their feet, start new employments in completely new fields, and move to a small Montanan town,(consider the change from living in Madrid, Spain!)
This is why, âDance in the Wind,â is an incredible album. It especially speaks to those of us who have lived long enough to know whatâs itâs like to have the wind knocked out of us, BUT, want to keep dancing!
