In the short time that he has been on the scene, he has played with his band, All One Thing-which features Racine on bass and vocals, Justin Rozanski (www.myspace.com/jrozanski) on guitar, Dan Sarna on trumpet, and Ryan Dylla on drums at venues such as the Boom Boom Room, Hotel Utah Saloon, The Knockout, Ireland's 32, Cafe Revolution, Virgin Megastore, The Brainwash, Mama Art Cafe, and Art Salon in San Francisco, Starry Plough in Berkeley, Prism in Oakland, Bamboo Lounge in San Jose, Stanford Campus, Fanny and Alexanders, Printers Café, and Café Bettola in Palo Alto, The Red Rocks in Mountain View, and has CDs and downloads for sale at Amoeba Music, Aquarious Records, iTunes, and www.cdbaby.com/all/eracine. Elliot was born and raised in Palo Alto, California, where he lived until he moved to Boston, Massachusetts in 2001 to attend Berklee College of Music. While at Berklee, he majored in professional music, with emphasis on performance, composition, and ethnomusicology. He has been a member of several other bands, including the Boston-based group, Maladeego, who has performed throughout New England in such venues as the All Asia Bar and OBrians. In summer of 2004, he interned at Studio 880 (www.studio880.com), where acts such as Green Day and Blackalicious record, and in spring of 2005, he recorded "Too Fucking Human" (www.cdbaby.com/cd/racine) an album of original music which featured the former trombone player from Reverend Glasseye (www.reverendglasseye.com). Soon after that, he traveled to Ghana, West Africa to study musical traditions of the Ewe and Dagara peoples. He learned from master musicians such as Bernard Woma, of the National Dance Company of Ghana (www.bernardwoma.com). During the winter of 2005-2006, he traveled to Jamaica to play with authentic local reggae artists. He finished recording his second original album, "Out On The Edges Of Things" (www.cdbaby.com/cd/racine2) in the spring of 2006. As of now, he is living in the Mission District of San Francisco. His music is truly original and hard to categorize. Impressionistic lyrics and psychedelic soul-rock riffs swirl over pulsating African and Native-American inspired rhythms and jazzy harmonies to create a sound which is ever-changing, yet always recognizable. He has been compared to a wide spectrum of artists, ranging from Beck to Bach. Whereas many young musicians are simply on a mission to emulate their idols, Elliot Racine is on a different path, imitating no one.
