A friend and fellow musician once said that Reidar plays unobvious pop music. Regardless of whether it was meant to compliment or demean, Reidar embraces the description. Composed of five Seattle guys in touch with the local music scene and instilled with a will to dance and in turn inspire dancing, Reidar makes music that is not without sweeping emotional affect. Drawing on the song writing of their favorite bands, Reidar brings together clever, candid, and carefully scripted lyrics that bring to mind the writing of Ben Gibbard with a sound that might be best described as a combination of Minus the Bear, United State of Electronica, and the Appleseed Cast. They combine the genre of the more and more popular dance rock/electronica with an epic alternative sound. Reidar capitalizes on the diverse musical backgrounds and tastes of its members. Each of them has studied music in an academic setting and brings to the table their own strengths and style to create the bands unique flavor. They feature a comfortable and charismatic front man, David Hendrix, on lead vocals and rhythm guitar. Jesse Erickson is the icing on the cake with his skillfully crafted and Edge (of U2) inspired lead guitar lines which are in turn complimented by Sam Beckelhymers equally creative keyboard parts. You havent heard synth this catchy since Super Mario Bros. Underneath all of this are the heart and soul of the band, Ben Dubose on bass and Jay Beaman on drums. Together they create the foundation and drive for a truly inspiring sound. Lastly, Reidar is completely devoted to their live show. They combine musical excellence with a love of performing that always shows and that never fails to infect the audience. Spirited dancing almost always ensues both on the stage and off which has continuously left audiences enthused and anticipating the next show. Full of promise, the quintet known as Reidar is sure to continue gathering fans and make a mark on the Seattle music scene.
