Ryan began playing guitar at age fourteen and the piano two years later. He has played at several top venues in the Birmingham, Alabama area including Alabama Theater, WorkPlay, City Stages and Zydeco. He has been been featured in the Birmingham News as one of the areas "new and upcoming stars" and has also appeared on several local television newscasts. Yet, he is still in high school! His musical style is influenced from an eclectic range of artists such as Eric Clapton, Marc Broussard, John Mayer, Stevie Ray Vaughn and Stevie Wonder.
