These songs are so richly laden with imagery, melodies, harmonies, and irony that they will stick in your head long after the CD is over. Listener, beware.
12 MP3 Songs
ROCK: Folk Rock, FOLK: Folk-Rock
Details:
Scott King cannot stop writing songs. Really good songs. Relevant. Irreverent. Catchy. Tender. Ironic. (REALLY ironic, not like some songs that say they're about irony, but are really just about unfortunate coincidences...) This album was begun in the summer of 2005. While it was being produced, Scottâs fans demanded the newest songs theyâd recently been hearing at his shows, so he quickly put out âWrecking Ballâ, a small-studio CD financed by those same fans, and is now already in the middle of writing a whole new batch of songs that we'll probably see next summer!
What makes his music so good? First, his hooks. "In Your Head" is not just a line from one of the songs, it's what'll happen to these tunes once you've heard them. They'll be there. In your head...
Then it's his lyrics. Listen carefully. The songs may not be saying what you think they're saying the first time around. Really. With "In Your Head" Scott is pulling from some pretty heavy influences: Paul McCartney, Dave Carter, Bruce Cockburn, to name just a few. But they're just influences. Scott's quirky way of looking at the world infuses every track on here.
Want to solve a murder mystery in under four minutes? Check out "Officer Kincaid." Know what it's like to lose someone? Find out why "Jeannie Was the One." Nostalgic for your old hometown? Stop in to "Mr. Hooper's Hardware Store." Ever been dumped? You might be ready for "Something New." Remember all those juicy rumors in high school? Hear what the kids are saying on "Down and Low." Want to just sing along and keep singing all day? Go ahead with "Go, Maria!"
Are you ready to take a spin? We think you'll enjoy the ride.
