Details:
Gary began his musical career at the age of 8 with trumpet and continued with the horn until The Beatles exploded on the scene. He took up drums for 5 years, performing live performances with bands starting at the age of ten. In 1967, in the same mind-altering day, Gary was turned onto the music of Jimi Hendrix and also the electric guitar. Within 18 months he was playing live in a band with songs by The Doors, The Birds, Jeff Beck, Moby Grape, Chicago, Hendrix, Cream, Spirit...
Gary formed a dual-guitar group in 1972, playing clubs in the D.C. area, specializing in integrated harmony guitar leads. A few years later he migrated to Los Angeles to join several other musicians from the DC area. LA was a more open scene for new and different musical ideas, including jazz/rock and Gary's love for fusion increased with the addition of Chick Corea's Return To Forever to the growing list of fusion groups.
Lessons from Danny Gatton, Eddie Berg, and Jorge Strunz opened the door to different styles of music including Gattonâs flashy blues, Eddie Bergâs smooth jazz, and Latin/World styles of Jorge Strunz.
Two years later, Gary returned to DC and formed several successful full-time cover bands, playing the Georgetown circuit, then spent 6 months playing rock and reggae clubs in the US Virgin Islands. In 1993, Gary collaborated with Eric Bragg in West Palm Beach to form The Garason Conspiracy. Together they created the CD - Glamour Shots, a co-written collection of songs with varying styles. Since then, he has written many other songs, several of which are included on Life Of Its Own. Gary's songs have sold on 5 Continents.
Gary's style been compared to Steve Vai, Al Dimeola, Carlos Santana, Allan Holdsworth, Eric Clapton, Joe Satriani, Eric Johnson, Jimi Hendrix....................
