This upbeat, new, original sequel to the classic legend of Aladdin describes in rhyme with music, how Bubblebee, a non-violent superhero bee, meets Aladdin. Bubblebee has the unique ability to blow soap bubbles from the antennae on his head.

The story begins, âIf youâre ever in some trouble/Find the bee who blows a bubble/...He works for good and not for glory/ Heâs a hero; hereâs his story!â

After briefly summarizing the traditional Aladdin story, the authors tell the tale of a brilliant son named Al, born to Aladdin and the princess. âThe baby smiled and said, âHello,/There is a lot Iâd like to know!ââ Because of his doting parents and the famous genie, young Al has a luxurious, yet unsatisfying, childhood.

One day, Al is about to ask for a special wish, but the genie gets stuck in his lamp and is unable to grant any wishes. After numerous failed attempts to free the genie, the mysterious Bubblebee appears, succeeds and is rewarded for his efforts with three wishes.

Rather than using his wishes for the usual âpackageâ -- riches, castles and a beautiful princess -- Bubblebee asks the genie for something much different. He wants skills to help make the world a better place.

Bubblebeeâs bubbles are enhanced so they can carry the latest technological equipment and transport characters to various times and places. Al, who has the same goal, is also given special powers to work together with Bubblebee to help humanity.

AUTHORS
Burton Goodman is the author of 70 language arts texts for use by elementary, middle and high school students. He has also written more than 200 animated cartoon scripts for King Features Syndicate, Paramount Pictures, WABC TV, etc. He wrote the Crafts and Culture segments for the acclaimed educational TV program, âVegetable Soupâ for the Public Broadcasting System.

He is the author of âFist Against the Night,â a young adult novel for the McGraw-Hill Company. Burton has an MA in English and an MS in Guidance and Counseling and has taught for many years in secondary schools and college.

Gloria Rinderman was an elementary school teacher for more than 20 years. Both she and her husband, Richard Rinderman, are award-winning ASCAP songwriters. One of their songs was chosen for a MAC/ASCAP Showcase. The Rindermans wrote the two songs on the audio book CD of "The Tale of Aladdin and Bubblebee."

They wrote book, lyrics and some of the music for a childrenâs musical,
"Bubblebee (or, Aladdin Was My Grandpa)." A CD of the songs, âBubblebee: Songs for the Young at Heart,â (favorably reviewed by the School Library Journal), has been sold to hundreds of schools and libraries so far throughout the US, Canada and the Caribbean.
