What is apparent in this release is his ability to fashion fun with poignant story telling. Somewhat reminiscent of Jimmy Buffett songs, JD takes us on an adventureâ¦whether itâs for a âLong Weekend,â a visit with the âThe Banana Republicanâ or a madcap time in âJuarez Hell.â

We are reminded of JDâs range as he tackles Hollywood head-on in âOne Sick Puppy,â and then throttles way back to deliver a sweet traditional ballad in âThe Water Is Wide.â
The Banana Republican also showcases his multi-instrumental talents ranging from reggae, funk and rock guitar to country and pop keyboard work, tight drums and percussion as well as soulful solid vocals.
