Honest, raw and sometimes heartbreaking, this Swedish based band delivers stripped, half-accoustic, first-take versions of songs about love, fear, God and the ever present evil.
9 MP3 Songs
FOLK: Modern Folk, FOLK: Folk Pop
Details:
Robert Kviby and Mathias Bohlin, the only permanent members of OFSC, started the recording of a rock album in the summer of 2005 together with a collection of people they had played with for the last ten years. We worked on that for a year before the recording sessions were finalized. But it didn't feel as good as we wanted. So we kept mixing and changing.
One weekend, Robert (singer) came to the studio for a vocal session; with a bad cold and an even worse heartache since his wife had left for another country. He said: I can't sing the rock songs, but I've written some new songs since my wife left so maybe we can record them.
And that recording session on a sick, drunk and lonely Saturday night turned into the album Major Highs, Manic Lows; the debut album of Our Friends Social Club.
The music of Our Friends Social Club is close to the heart and to thoughts about love, hate, life, death and God and the ever present evil. It's naked music, without cosmetics. What you hear on the recordings of OFSC is how it played out in the studio. The ambition is always to keep it that way in order to, as much as it is possible, recreate for the listener, the moment when the songs were written.
