Biography
The Gift
Brooke Pennock
Singer/Songwriter/Guitarist
"I don't know where this stuff comes from. The songs write me, I don't write them. I certainly have tons of life experiences and a great imagination, but sometimes the beauty or perfection of a line I've just written can surprise me. I think it's a gift, I really do."
And her gift of writing is given to us.... insatiable teasing, crippling self doubt, shattering honesty, true love and true hate, the words that explain what we feel but can't speak.....perfectly.
Family, farm, music......
"I'm one of the lucky people, I have a very full life."
Brooke's juggler logo sums it up. "Balancing my life generally starts somewhere up in the air, most the time I'm a pretty good catch, but every now and then I drop the whole sha-bang!" This is where the support of husband and sons come into play. "They are as much a part of this success as I am. I could not do this without them".
Brooke lives in the foothills of the Cascade Mountains with John, Joseph and Arthur on a small farm with gardens and ponds and livestock.
A pipefitter by day and singer/songwriter by night, it's only a matter of time before all the world hears the gifts that Brooke's music gives.
In Brooke's words....
"I was born and raised in the countryside of Northwestern Washington in the small town of Conway, which lies 60 miles North of Seattle. Growing up, my mother sang songs like Puff The Magic Dragon, Old Stewball and Think I'll Eat Some Worms. She played an old, beat up Yamaha classical guitar and I credit her completely for my desire to play and my ability to write music.
At nine I got my first guitar and went straight to composing, skipping theory and method, following my instincts. My style is still as such, simple yet unconventional and has earned many a question ("how'd you ever come up with that cord progression?!?") from my accomplished guitar playing friends. I have no idea. Like I said, I'm following my heart. The music and lyrics I end up with are fresh, simple, direct, passionate, real, blunt, sincere, harsh, tender, cram-packed with the thoughts, feelings, and observations we all seem to share. Life offers terrific material to a song writer!"
