Jonathan's swing mixes in a little bit of church, a dash of soul, and a heap of old-time smooth. His bluesy style reflects gospel influences from his pentacostal roots and the blues, jazz, and soul from his native Minneapolis music scene. But most of all, he says, he found his voice sitting on a piano bench next to his grandfather as he crooned the old tunes. Since then, Jonathan has performed both solo and with his bands in Minneapolis, Boulder, and Seattle, where he now resides.
