Description:
The Mysterious Affair at Styles introduces Hercule Poirot, Agatha Christie's famous detective character with his little gray cells, absurd patent leather shoes, and magnificent mustaches. Poirot starred in more than 30 of Christie's novels, and in many movies.

Review: Agatha Christie's books have sold over a billion copies in the English language, and she has been translated into 45 other languages. Her detective characters, Hercule Poirot and Miss Marple, are two of the most famous fictional detectives in the world.
Agatha May Clarissa Miller was born in Devon, England in September, 1890. She married World War I fighter pilot Archie Christie in 1914, when she was 24 years old. While Archie was at war, Agatha worked as a nurse. She wrote her first novel, The Mysterious Affair at Styles, during the war. By the time of her divorce in 1928, she had become the well-known author of eight mystery novels. Christie was famous not only for her novels, but also for her widely-publicized disappearance in 1926, when her marriage was in crisis.
In 1926, front page headlines reported Agatha Christie's mysterious disappearance from her home in Berkshire, England. When she was found eleven days later, she claimed amnesia. In the years that followed, many speculations were published about her disappearance, the most recent of which is the well-researched Agatha Christie and the Eleven Missing Days, by Jared Cade.
In 1930, Agatha Christie married Max Mallowan, an archeologist she had met while travelling in the East. In 1968, Max Mallowan received a knighthood. In 1971 Agatha herself was made a Dame of the British Empire. Agatha Christie Mallowan died on January 12, 1976, after writing 79 novels and short story collections, and many plays. Her play The Mousetrap is the longest running play in theatrical history.
