Details:
One of 2004's DIY Music Festival Honorable Mentions, Chuck Maiden has released his debut, "Morris Road", on his own Lorne Street Records. Self-produced along with friend and singer/songwriter, Bill Reveles, Morris Road is blend of folk-rock and contemporary pop. Songs range in mood and tempo, holding the listener's attention throughout-from the Paul Simon meets Brian Wilson beauty of "Glad" to the British pop-country of "Overtime Love". Chuck is backed by some great players: Bruce Watson on electric guitar, Dave Salinas on drums, Jorgen Carlsson on bass and Arlen Schierbaum on piano and Hammond organ. The album was mixed by the well-respected Talley Sherwood and mastered by Grammy-winning Gavin Lurssen at The Mastering Lab. "Morris Road" is receiving considerable airplay across America and Europe.

Chuck, who was raised in Canoga Park, California, started playing guitar at age 11 and soon after, joined his first band. At 18, he began composing. He drew upon the inspiration of Pete Townshend and Neil Young, among others. Around this time, he moved to Washington state. Soon he made friends with other musicians, playing local parties and shows. Eventually, Chuck formed his own band, Hands, and developed a large following around Seattle, playing a mixture of covers and Chuck's originals. A song of Chuck's, Angel Love, appeared on Seattle station, KZOK's Best of the Northwest compilation album.

Chuck left Hands to move back to Los Angeles and continued to write and record demos. In 1985, he met some musicians in Santa Barbara and formed The Story So Far. Chuck's style was beginning to return to his folk-rock roots and was energized by alternative and new wave. He was a member of the Santa Barbara Songwriters Guild, where he won three first-place awards for his song, Wring It Out. After a few personnel changes and gigs which included sharing the bill with the early Toad the Wet Sprocket, the band settled in Los Angeles, recording demos and showcasing for labels. The record deal the band had hoped for never materialized and Chuck's musicians went their separate ways.

After much soul-searching and stilted attempts to form another band, Chuck, for the first time, decided to take a break from performing. He focused on another long time interest-art. During his hiatus, Chuck worked for Malibu and Marvel Comics as a computer colorist. This led to working as a background painter for Fox's King of the Hill. Chuck never stopped writing and always thought about performing as a solo singer/songwriter. He had yet to make his own record and felt like there was some unfinished business with his first passion-making music.

In 2001, He met fellow singer/songwriter, Bill Reveles who encouraged him to make a record with session musicians. Bill shared Chuck's musical sensibilities and was enlisted to help produce Morris Road. Work began at Matt Thorne's MT Studios in Burbank in early 2002. A year and a half later, the impressive album which has emerged contains well-crafted songs, captivating vocals and resonates with warmth and spirit. Chuck Maiden currently performs acoustically as a solo act throughout Southern California, playing songs from Morris Road as well as others from his on-going catalogue. He was born in Lawrence, Kansas and currently resides in Newbury Park, California with his wife, Paulette and daughter, Mackenzie.
