Details:
Chainsaw Weasel is all grown up now and his latest release Flux has a complexity and depth unlike any of the previous albums. While true to his earlier Electronica roots this composition utilizes deeper string beds and many found sounds for rhythmic texture and character. There is an underlying urgency and sense of loss in many of the compositions written during a time of deep emotional empathy at the loss of a dear friends father. Bender, a requiem written for John Silber, has a very complex atonal string bed underlying a lighter hope filled melodic line. Lower, In My Head and Uniform all share this theme of temporary loss and hope in a better future.

There is still some of the Sci-Tech Electronica sprinkled across the CD in tracks like the Title Track Flux, which boldly announces that "They Have Programmed My Brain" and Zap a Found Sound Sci-Tech Chill piece. You can count on Chainsaw Weasel to mix in plenty of table work like in the tracks Melt and Daddy's home which feature some of his better scratching since his debut album in 1999 Itch I Can't Scratch.

This is by far Chainsaw Weasels most complete and listenable album to day. You can leave this one in the CD player for a turn on your standard rotation.
