April Clay has been leading worship for the last eight years all over Oklahoma, Texas, & Arkansas. She grew up in Durant, Oklahoma and lived most of her life there until relocating to Sulphur, OK in 2004. Due to her parents divorce in 1985, she moved in with her grandmother who ended up raising her. Her Grandmother took her to church every time the doors were open. Her grandmaâs constant example of the unconditional love of Christ has forever impacted her life. At the age of nine she decided to give her life to following and serving Jesus Christ. It was also about the same time that she sang in church for the very first time and began writing music. When April was seventeen she surrendered her life to serve in full time ministry, not sure of what the future held, but knew she couldnât see herself doing anything else. In 2002 she graduated college from Southeastern Oklahoma State University with a Bachelorâs Degree in Communication and Minors in music and psychology. In 2002-2003 she served as an Intern/Associate for the Baptist Collegiate Ministries at Southeastern and part-time college director for Silo Baptist Church. She married Brad Clay in 2003 and joined him in Student ministry at Silo Baptist Church and presently at First Baptist Church of Sulphur. She began working with a girlâs ministry called Individually Designed Ministries in 2004. She is currently the primary worship leader for the ministry and occasionally teaches bible study. Aprilâs heart and passion is student ministry. She believes leading worship is an incredible outlet from God to minister to students. She actively mentors students in Sulphur and believes in intentional relationships (every moment is given by God to amplify his Glory). Aprilâs song writing stems from scripture memory and study of Godâs word. She believes Godâs word is more powerful than anything she can come up with. Her new album also contains two songs she wrote for her husband. One song is from his pursuit of her and the other was written for her wedding. Aprilâs desire is that everyone listening to her music will deeply shaken and modified for the kingdom of God. The love of Jesus is contagious, her hope is that everyone will be taken by it.
