10 MP3 Songs
LATIN: Latin Rap, HIP-HOP/RAP: Reggaeton
Details:
Black Labol first became interested in music at the young age of 13. He was given a tape in the summer of 1995 of what was then underground Latin Rap. This homemade mixed tape featured Vico C, Eddie Dee, Mexicano and Benny Blanco, all of which are no now considered to be legendary pioneers of this genre of music. By the end of the 90 minute tape, Black Labol was born. Black Labol has taken his idols Uncle L and Lukeâs styles and added his own flavor by incorporating the batchata and merengue beats to create his own unique âstiloâ. He has been in the music industry for 9 years. Thus far, his career has been defined by his determination and resolve to make it. He has been able to overcome the obstacles that an unsigned artist faces. Black Labol has taken his future in his own hands and created his own team to produce, perform and distribute his music to achieve his life long goal of being signed with a quality record label. In addition to creating music, Black Labol is also a poet and script writer. Most of, if not all of his songs are a revelation of his personal life. He is the eldest son of 4 children. His music is inspired by his momâs plight as a single mother struggling to make ends meet. He used music and writing as a form of expression and coping with his internal struggles of not having his father in his life. His favorite original song thus far is âBendicion Papiâ. He is the composer and writer of this special piece that he dedicated to his estranged father. This song is comprised of the pain and tears of a son torn between anger and sadness due to his fatherâs absence. Black Labol feels that he did not choose a particular form of music, but rather it chose him. As he revealed himself as an artist, he found that Reggaeton and Latin Hip-Hop was the perfect vehicle for him to say what he wanted to say without all the âcushâ. In his opinion, it has become perfect outlet and voice of the youth today. Black Labol acknowledges that this style of music is like speaking the truth. âYou cannot be fake in the genre of music, you have to live it in real life and suffer the struggle in your own flesh and blood.â âYou gotta live it to be able to sell it!â He explained.
