âElder is someone I could easily describe as a truly talented individual. His performances take you on an uncensored tour of the soul. His presence is both honest and cautious. Stunningâ
Sinister Pete - Phantom FM
Thereâs something spiritual about Eldersâ songs. Theyâre simple without being simplistic.
Dam Hegarty â 2Fm
âIâm a live musician. I get my energy and passion from the people and my surroundings. I refuse to accept anything less from my studio recordings. This album is a signature to my workâ
Elder
Elder started playing piano from the age of eleven. It was an old out of key upright with missing notes. It still managed to be the tool for his first songs which began as accompaniments to the ideas and poems he frequently wrote.
At 17 he started performing at singer/songwriter nights in the âInternational Barâ in Dublin, alongside such musicians as Mundy, Damien Rice, and Glen Hansard.
He became the lead singer for the band âARKâ in 1998. They moved to West Cork where they played venues and festivals around the country. The band split up after two successful years and Elder returned to Dublin with a new repertoire of songs that saw a more mature approach to music.
After returning from a trip to South America he was approached to support Juno Falls for their up and coming Irish tour in 2004, which he gladly accepted.
Elder has since blossomed as a musical dramatist telling stories of a dark yet recognisable world. His keen observation falls between tearful humour and black romance. His songs immerse the grittier side of life paving the way with slapping grooves and roots overtones.
His theatrical story telling has likened him to Billy Joel, Tom Waits, and David Bowie.
Elder is steadily growing as a name to hear around the Irish and European Music Scene.
