Details:
In the history of music, quality original artists have been recognized by their raw, sincere, distinct sounds. From Bob Dylan to Nine Inch Nails, these artistsâ unique music truly is the sound that resonates in them and pushes itself out. Echoing that same sincerity but communicating their own unique sound, Fulton Read crafts songs fundamentally about the life experience- be it love, hurt, joy or pain âand recognizing the need to celebrate feeling anything and enjoy being alive.
It is that life philosophy that resonates to Fulton Readâs fans. Since the release of their first EP in early 2005, songs like âHope You Never Goâ and âIâd Love to See Liveâ offered fans a welcome change of scene(ry) with some enjoyable, feel-good music. Their refreshing blend of piano pop and classic rock hits you with a strikingly original familiarity. With a great response from listeners, the EP spread throughout the Houston, TX area music scene gaining fans and opening many opportunities. Simply the fan response allowed Fulton Read to thrive- performing with national touring acts such as Circa Survive, Say Anything, Limbeck, and The Format; drawing large crowds in local venues, and directing a live collaboration with an orchestra performing their written arrangements.
Soon following their acclaimed orchestra show was the self-released LP, âHow Rocks Become Mountainsâ at the end of 2005. After band member musical chairs settled, the final lineup was chiseled away to: Anthony (piano/vocals), Chris (bass), Lou (guitar/vocals), and Stephen (drums). The guys (all just nearing twentysomething now) have written more material than one-hit wonder Frankie Goes to Hollywoodâs entire recorded catalog. Within the limits of independent promotion and support, Fulton Read has recorded in different professional recording studios for multiple sessions, played nearly a hundred shows, and sold out 1000 copies of their LP (in less than a year of its release) -all within one cityâs surrounding area with marginal Myspace promotion.
Once the group moved to Austin, TX in 2006, they began spreading a free Demo EP around the region and entertaining many new faces. The guys were received well by the colorful Austin music scene, playing clubs like Emoâs and Red 7 and gaining credit with fans ranging from students to local musicians. Now with a fresh 5-song EP from Austin producer, Rory Phillips (Impossibles,Recover,YoungLove), the band has the cutting edge sound to back up their impeccable songwriting. âOut of the Woodsâ will be released in August of 2007 followed by a promotional tour to the West Coast.
And so Fulton Read treads on, playing shows and making friends, waiting to meet the right people to help them spread their sound/message of moving forward and living on. This band is determined to intoxicate you, with a head held high, a couple ears to the ground, a few sheets to the wind, and all their eyes on the world.
