Details:
"My name is Jodi McLaren. I create music from the soul, its my way of getting free and expressing myself. And I have this strange belief that maybe YOU can connect to it too, because its personal without coming out and saying exactly what happened. Giving you just enough of a view into the insights I've acquired from living my life."
At the age of 20, guitarist/singer/songwriter Jodi McLaren is one of the youngest and most powerful musicians to hail from Laurel, Maryland in recent memory. She's opened for bands such as This Day and Age, The Spill Canvas, Jason Webley, KUKU, Kate Morrissey, and Andrew Norsworthy.
Influenced by many great lyricists and musicians, Jodi has the raw honesty of Chris Carrabba in early Dashboard Confessional days, the free spirit of Joni Mitchell, the self-driven motivation of Ani DiFranco, and flavors of the Indigo Girls.
Her inspirations range through Coldplay, Ben Harper, Damien Rice, Death Cab For Cutie, Brand New, Yellowcard, Counting Crows, Guster, Keane, Nickel Creek, Ryan Adams, Travis, and James Taylor. She is a solo act with heart-bursting honesty, beautifully layered melodies, and the raw edge of a Martin DX1 acoustic guitar.
She's played at numerous venues. Portland, OR: the Mississippi Pizza Pub, Lewis & Clark College, Concordia Coffee House. VA: James Madison University Café, Stellaâs Bar and Grill. MD: Daily Grind Coffee House and Cafe, College Perk Coffeehouse, numerous High School talent shows and coffee houses. Flagstaff, AZ: Macy's Cafe. GA: Urban Grind, Eddie's Attic. PA: Starbucks, Logos Bookstore. And her own booking venue in Burtonsville, MD that raised over 1,000 dollars for mission work in Guatemala; the Cedar Ridge Barn... and more!
She's a college student at Lewis & Clark College doing little tours just about anywhere she goes. If you're interested in booking, please contact Jodi at settle4more@gmail.com.
