Ciara (Celtic pronunciation hard "C") was born in Niagara-on the Lake, to Irish parents who immigrated to Canada in the late 1960's. Their sense of exploration and love for travel has had an enormous influence on Ciara as an artist. As a result, after studying Opera at Queen's University in Canada, she attended the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London, England, to study acting. This in turn took her to Belgium, Spain, Italy, France, Denmark, China, Mongolia and or course Ireland. Each of these places has had an influence on her and introduced her to a different cultural expression; this is reflected in her choice of material and her original music. In 2004, Ciara self-produced her debut CD, Ciara Adams-Live at Le Select Bistro, this CD was formally released at this year's Toronto Jazz Festival at Le Select Bistro on July 2nd and 3rd, where Ms. Adams played two sold out shows. This Cd is the first release on her label Decadent Rare Records. She performs regularily in and around Toronto and she is currently working on her debut studio EP with producer Tim Abraham at The HIVE in Toronto. The EP including original material is set for release in early 2006.
