Details:
Modern instrumental surf music.
This was originally a limited release in 2000. Read what Phil Dirt of Reverb central says:
"Crazy Surf"
"Crazy Surf" opens this album with warmth and drive, and a bit of danger amid exuberance. Splashy and not to be held back, this cool instro intersperses the drama between verses of wide-eyed excitement, and there's a gently damped verse as well that's very inviting.
Surf Instrumental Stereo
"Beachball"
Warm dry chords back a playful, if a little cautious, guitar line. Crisp and openly joyous, "Beachball" uses a modified surf beat featuring some very tasteful drum work. Fine track.
Surf Instrumental Stereo
"Baja Depth Charge"
In a distant or maybe restrained way, "Baja Depth Charge" moves down a coastal highway like a woody view from afar. Smooth and fluid, motion oriented, and very nicely done.
Surf Instrumental Stereo
"Pele's Tears"
A little mysterious, and maybe a bit lurid, this track reaches right into your soul. Subtle, gentle, fluid like the breeze through the palms, "Pele's Tears" is a moving song that's hard to dislike.
Surf Instrumental Stereo
"Captain Fishsticks"
This is a slow, moody, and inviting song with a pretty well developed arrangement. Vibrato chords add to the emotion of the breezy guitar lines, and create a sense of sadness. I'm not sure why, but this reminds me of the Challengers' short-lived Shadows-styled album On The Move.
Surf Instrumental Stereo
"Ticky Tacky"
I like "Ticky Tacky" a lot. It's a delicate song with a warm and catchy sound. It gets right to you. Direct and simple as surf should be, playful like the Evasions were, and entirely cool.
Surf Instrumental Stereo
"Ray Bay"
Verging on adult contemporary, "Ray Bay" is a soft and pretty song with a heart. Simply nice.
Surf Instrumental Stereo
"Aquasun"
The shimmer of the guitar's vibrato creates the feeling of the water undulating, or perhaps a sad mood. Haunting, with island slide chords. The sun is setting on the pristine waters as the eyelids gently fall. Very nice.
Surf Instrumental Stereo
"Noseeums"
The rhythm is structured like the Exports' "Car Hop," and the lead is very gently damp-picked, creating an intriguing sound and energy. Gentle, catchy, and a bit gritty. Excellent!
Surf Instrumental Stereo
"Long Summer"
Island twang, soft sound, sunset romance... "All Summer Long" is a vacation moonlit walk kind of song.
Surf Instrumental Stereo
"Lily"
It's interesting that I half-though about King Of Hawaii when I saw the title, and upon hearing "Lily," the feeling was also there. No, it's not a cover, and no, it doesn't sound like KOH, but it is in that general neighborhood, only reverbed out some. Gentle and catchy.
Surf Instrumental Stereo
"Duke Of Clyde Gets A Ride"
"Duke Of Clyde Gets A Ride" is a slow and silky song born of gentle vibrato and ringing chords. Very pretty and slightly melodramatic.
