"B.B. Dogg plays with the left hand, the right hand, that's why they call him B.B. Dogg" - Po' Bone
We believe that this is the cd that every one who has ever played in a band wanted to record!
Whether you were professional giggers, or just a good time
garage band, the experiences of the lifestyle
are similar...and often pretty damn funny!
After years of "chasing the carrot" in the real music industry, we now submit these songs as a "back to basics" collection of fun blues, rock & r&b. -Grammy & Z-man
History of the band:
Founding members Larry "Z-Man" Zurn & John "Grammy" McLane met as young rockers back many, many years ago with a road band called Vertical Union (based out of Erie, Pa and later Cleveland, Ohio). Off and on through the years since then, they worked together in different Miami, L.A. and Atlanta based bands.
Not too long ago, having both settled back in South Florida, they decided that after a couple of rough hurricane seasons, there was good enough reason to start writing and recording that long - talked about blues cd: "One Blue Shoe".
Of course, in true blues fashion, everybody involved got a new stage name: Z-Man became B.B. Dogg, (from a stage name he'd used back in the 1990's while a sideman with Atlanta bluester Sammy Blue). John McLane became the irrepressible "Rupert Snap Dawg", (just because they liked the sound of
it)!
Several other players were brought in to round out the style: The Doggs were able to enlist Hot Mont's original horn section, "The Bones of Contention" to add a great blasting horn section to some of the tunes; South Florida smooth jazz god Tim "Boogiehead" Poindexter added some great sax to a couple of cuts; rocker Geo G. Dawg added some screamin' "Santana-esque" lead guitar; "Even Steven" Gomes kicked in his funky drum groove on several tunes; and blue-eyed soul sister Caucazia sang her heart out on background vocals!
