Anarcoustic Classic Core - a unique mix of classical, folk, punk, and cabaret-rock.
12 MP3 Songs
FOLK: Power-folk, CLASSICAL: Contemporary
Details:
Some say she was raised by wolves out in the northern prairies. Her fans include classical music icons, new agers and hard-core rockers. She is a multi-media artist with a degree in music composition and performance, has written a full scale opera, released 4 CDâs, a childrenâs CD and Book and seemingly endless energy for other things.
â Anarcoustic Classic Coreâ, how else to describe an artist who plays the piano like an avenging angel, sings, plays the drums, harmonica, a rubber rat and junk food⦠all in one song? Her energy, skill, love of music and her open musical mind all make her an ideal performer.â Dugg Simpson, artistic director Van.Folk Music Festival
Jen ââ¦Paches looked like a bohemian Sharon Stone.â Georgia Straight, Van. Canada,
"A Legendary Punk Rock Divaâ Dan Bern, USA.
âGypsy Informed with the energy and passion of punk - somewhere between Tom Waits and Patti Smithâ De Speigel â St. Niklass â Belgium
âcompletely between Paula Cole & Sid Viciousâ Georgia Straight â Van. Canada
Leaping right into our human emotions, Jen writes wonderfully captivating songs. Her music is a unique mix of classical, folk, and gypsy punk jazz. In fact, all three facets are happening most of the time, along with a whirlwind story in which you find yourself enveloped, everything else evaporating, until the slap in the face wakes you.
With the beginning of this year 2007, she has a new release; her 4th album, âPretty Little Starsâ;
This gorgeous CD has 12 stylistic songs, true to form w/ elements of classical, folk & gypsy punk jazz.
The title song, âPretty Little Starsâ is about the 50 + female victims from Vancouverâs notorious downtown east-side, their perfect dreams and potentials, the sad brutal murders and the loved ones that they all left behind.
âNorthern Bird I and IIâ, Jesse Zubot lends his classical and fiddling skills to these two vibrant songs about passion and survival in the harsh Canadian North. The inspiration for these two songs comes from my piononeering Grandmothers and fathers.
âLadies from Liegeâ,on the other hand is my other heritage, likened to a Kurt Weill character from Eastern Europe, a taunting, tempting gypsy woman with much family, tradition, skills and love of life, but no home or country.
âAbigailâ and the "Edmonton Song", are true accounts of where I grew up, in the great open flatlands of the Alberta Prairies tainted with wheat, wind, cowboys, farmers, miners and a good stiff drive or two.
In the âGypsy Cryâ with violinist Dita Sofkova, we found a way to our hearts through gypsy music, beer and sausage.
âThe Riverâ is my favourite Canadian Folk Song and was written by my brother Robert Paches, this is the songâs debut and I hope you love it as much as I do.
Recorded, Engineered by Chon at Profile Studios, Van. BC
OX, DOA, Be Good Tanyas, Jesse Zubot,
Produced by Chon and Jen
âgive me an excuse and Iâll be playing and writing music, I love itâ Jen
