I am living in a small town 2 Hrs southwest of Austin, Tx. I have been playing and writing 43 yrs.
I worked on my first pro recording project in 1972, after touring with a gospel group, doing shows with, the OakRidge Boys, The Goodmans, and playing venues such as the Roanoke Convention Center, the week after Elvis was there. Shortly after that, I left the gospel music scene.
Ending up in Texas in the mid 70âs I played a lot of rock and country gigs, with a lot of cover bands, of course that can only last so long, my true love and pursuit has always been writing and recording. After a decade and a half of playing,I had written quite an extensive catalog of music and decided I needed to get some tracks recorded, this was about 1990.
I recorded several tracks in San Antonio Tx. Working in that studio led to working on a project and forming a band called called Ghost Town Reunion, we were working with several industry heavyweights on the project, (Allman bros producer, Johnny Sandlin, his wife, Ann Sandlin, ASCAP Exec, John Briggs, Polygram publishing exec, Billy Lynn, and several top Nashville writers. After completing the first CD of this project, due to irreconsiable differences the band broke up and I had just spent 3 years to get to that point.
I still had a lot of material I wanted to record, so I ended up in a friends studio in San Marcos Tx. I used tracks from those sessions, and some from the San Antonio sessions and ended up with the cd Ken Collier, LOVE TO PLAY.
I am currently working on my next release which is due for asap.
