Phil Johns is a diverse blues/country/funk/soul/folk/rock artist from New Zealand. Hard to pigeon hole but sounds great. Phil plays guitar and sings but the album was produced by a renouned hip hop producer, which makes for an interesting listen.

Phil Johns began writing songs on his guitar at the age of thirteen. He has lived in New Zealand all his life, though travelled widely for four years. He has recently moved to Heidelberg, Germany.
Illusion Fades Away is his debut full length release. It was mostly recorded in a boat shed on Wellington Harbour. A variety of guest musicians have made valuable input into the making of the cd. The production by Jody Loyd a.k.a Dark Tower from Christchurch is excellent.
