Details:
TWO BLUE MOONS is Roy's second release of original songs. This collection is straight ahead traditional country. Some songs grew up out of a title that came to mind and some were inspired by literature or a particular turn of events.
The WIDOW MRS. WEST is a Marty Robbins style old west ballad. In my day job I appraise commercial real estate. A few years ago I had been hired by the owner of the Arcade Hotel in Bridgeport, Connecticut to value the property in anticipation of a law suit with the City over its condemnation. The hotel dated back to the mid-1800s when the west was still a frontier and Bridgeport was a transportation node for sea-going vessels and trains and many travelers to and from the west might have stayed there. Down in the lower basement I came across a barrel full of old papers yellowed with age. One sheaf of papers related the story of a young woman who had travelled west to marry and then soon after saw her husband murdered by outlaws. This is the story of her revenge and below are a couple of reviews from listeners at Garageband.com.
REVIEW:Ghostriderâs not a guy
Another song that gets a big âWow!â from the first note. Sharp production, the reverb effect is especially fine, solid playing and a strong female vocal. Thereâs something in the feel of the track that rivets your attention, then the lyric leaps right into the story. The writing is cinematic, the music makes the first killing sound even more dramatic and the chorus is very strong, a giant musical and lyrical hook. There are good internal rhymes and vocal harmonies - even the gunshots work. Turns the whole cowboy revenge ballad upside down.

REVIEW: Really awesome story!
I like the story in this song. It made me smile all the way through, until the end where I felt really sorry for her broken heart. It's not often you hear a song about the girl gettng revenge for a murdered husband, it's unique. I like that. The vocals were really good! Your lead singer knows her range and uses that to her advantage. Every note was clear, and the harmony was wonderful! It really helps that the production was well done too.

EAGLES & ANCHORS & SNAKES is about getting the wrong impression. Everywhere you look today folks are getting themselves tatooed. And in some delicate places it is possible to discover the name of a loved one. Unfortunately and too often the tatoo endurs beyond the endearment. Below is another review from Garageband.com.
REVIEW: Yeah, This Works!
Lyrically clever, a witty little ditty & vocal, instrumentation do it justice! Nice Texas-swing/bounce tempo & I like the MOOD! Zips by like a David A. Coe tune, even Kinky Freidman would nod in approval. Well done - goin back for 2nds as writer got lazy, NEEDS 1 MORE VERSE , kidding, Great Job & high marks!

The song is on the short side. So I worked up an additional verse, but it is not included on this recording.
When me and my honey
Turn out the lights
There's always a crowd in our bed
Before Betty and Joe
Or Maureen or Harry
There was Bubba and Barbara and Fred
And Sally and Larry
And Billy and Barry
And whoever we took to the prom
And I bet you can guess
The first name on the list
Great big red letters spell MOM!
RAINY DAY IN LOUISVILLE, KY. This is one from the wayback machine. 1960s - Summertime in Louisville. It was raining and I was walking. Just passed a pawn shop with some great camera equipment and a few good guitars turned in by some soldiers at Fort Knox to raise some dough to score a winner at Churchill Downs. The Belle of Louisville and the Delta Queen race each season down the straights of the Ohio River. Before the chain hotels took over the business there were unique houses such as Brown's Hotel in Louisville and Peabody's in Memphis which catered to their special clientele.
25 CENT BEER - Now this here is true story. The Travers Stakes is run at Saratoga in late August and we were there trying to make a bet. Didn't happen. Lost our shirts. But on the way out of town we did stop for just one beer... and now the story can be told.
