Details:
After writing her first song at 11 and being a published songwriter by 15, Laura instinctively knew her path in life. Hailing from the small New England town of Guilford, CT Laura discovered a love of music at the age of 7 when she sat down at her parents' piano and began playing songs by ear.

Upon graduating from high school in 1997 Laura moved to Chicago to attend the music conservatory at DePaul University. The rigid classical curriculum did not mesh with Laura's blues/rock influenced style and she decided to leave after her first year.

Laura made her way to Boston to the The Berklee College of Music. While studying the intricacies of music Laura formed The Laura Clapp Band in the Spring of 2000. The band formed a large local following and performed at some of Boston's best (and worst) venues.

Faced with the choices of New York, Los Angeles or Nashville, Laura decided to starve comfortably and head for the Music City. Since her arrival in Nashville, Laura has created quite a buzz; performing her original music in the nationally acclaimed Chick Singer Night at The Bluebird Cafe and by making her living solely as a performer. Her style has been described as bluesy, rock-influenced and Beth Hart edged, but Laura likes to call what she does Chick Rock.

Released in May of 2001 Laura's debut album "Where are you going?" was chosen as the #5 album of WLIU South Hampton's top 20 albums of 2001 by radio personality Bonnie Grice. The album came out ahead of such artists as Bob Dylan, Billy Joel and Janet Jackson.

Laura is currently working on her sophomore album, release date TBA.
