Our icons are in for a smashing. Like a House of Mirrors curves reality, this thriller bends the calendar. It thrusts a modern day Los Angeles investigative writer into Jack the Ripper's London of 1888, then back again. The plot is alive with intrigue. Throughout this thriller, the author mitigates the London fog with scenes in New York, Washington D.C., L.A., San Diego, and Palm Springs in a desperate race from the past to the present to stop the crime of two centuries. Dave Conway, a present day writer, is given a diary over 100 years old. It entangles him in a web of evil, deceit, and murder, that threatens his life if he reveals the diary's secrets. His investigation in pursuit of the truth takes him to the fog-enshrouded streets of Whitechapel in 1888 London and continues over 100 years to 1998, in the deserts of Southern California. A medical mystery that threatens to overtake our present-day society and destroy it. The author uses as a foundation the details of the Jack-the-Ripper murder crimes along with the concept that Sherlock Holmes actually existed and transfers those characters' essential qualities into two modern characters of good and evil. It is not science fiction, but science future; far beyond cloning and death. The author interweaves fact and fiction together so well that the reader becomes a believer. It contains a slight hint of romance. It is a fast read and hard to put down. So convincing is the account of the lost diary that friends and readers of the story have asked if it is true and if the diary really exists. Get comfortable in your easy chair,...turn the lights down low,...and... hang on!
