Details:
With a songwriting style that echoes Tom Petty, Lucinda Williams, and Wilco, and a voice that's been compared to such luminaries as Bruce Springsteen, Craig Michael Green writes heartfelt songs that are simultaneously memorable and familiar. Bitter Sunday, his debut album, mostly depicts dreamers who find themselves on the ropes. The record refuses to be categorized as it spans from the epic heartbreak of "Wasted" to the Byrdsy pop of "You Get So High"; and from the elusive faith of the sparse "Slipping Away" to the psychadelic moonscape of "Luna Blue". The gritty "Bordertown Blues" manages to be both haunting and hooky and the same time. Take it on your next long drive.
The record was produced by Gary Reynolds (Electrokitty) in Seattle. He also played bass guitar as well as some percussion and piano. The album also features Dusty Haze (Nevada Bachelors, ElectroKitty) on drums as well as Maximillian Keene (Loni Rose) on lead guitar. Gavin Guss (Tubetop, Gavin Guss Trio) contributes some great hammond organ parts and Rene' Jolenet (3Kelvins) adds a soulful back-up vocal to Bordertown Blues.
