Details:
Raised in Omaha Nebraska, Camille DeVore began singing at an early age and focused on music all through school. After a year studying music at the University of NE, Lincoln, Camille transferred to Boston's Berklee College of Music and was the lead singer of the school's Jazz Choir as well as a featured performer for Quincy Jones and Oscar Peterson. After graduating, Camille stayed on as an instructor at Berklee. She was a vocal coach and choreographer for major concert productions and taught stage performance, recording studio techniques and ear training. Her busy schedule also included live and studio dates singing pop, jazz and rock.
Camille moved to Nashville in 1989. Word of her diverse stylistic range and solid professionalism quickly spread among local contractors. Within months, her schedule filled with recording sessions and live dates. She's sung jingles for Godfather's Pizza, AAA Insurance and Sheraton Chicago and is the voice of "Veronica" on the cartoon series "Archie's Weird Mysteries.â
With the focus on her first musical love, jazz, Camille has been performing all over Omaha and is now taking her show to Lincoln, NE, Sioux Falls, SD, Kansas City, and Baton Rouge, LA. Her repertoire of standards and classic pop songs is a fitting showcase for her singular voice and broad interpretive skill. Camille is a dynamic and expressive performer; a must-see for anyone who loves music delivered with depth, soul and originality.
"What a delightful experience it is to hear this singer with a pristine tone, dead-center sense of pitch, and a deeply swinging rhythmic 'pocket'. I just LOVE the melodic lines in duet with sax, as well as her improvised soloing, which both nail the hippest notes possible! Even while the song choices are for the most part within the bounds of traditionally 'standard' material, Camille brings her own unique flavor to her interpretations, and the creativity of the arrangements keep the feeling fresh and fun."
Jennifer Barnes, Professional Vocalist and Teacher
"Cool, clear, and easy on the ear."
David Vernier, Reviewer
"We absolutely loved this album. Great vocals, good arrangements, and very savvy jazz feel about the whole project. We think Omaha should start sharing Camille with the rest of the musical world!"
Beegie Adair, Jazz Pianist
"The arrangements are very cool & varied and the band sounds great!"
Karrin Allyson, Grammy nominated Jazz Vocalist
"Camille's voice is a warm and welcoming presence, one that invites repeated listening." J.A.C Redford
"Great voice and piano and an outstanding rhythm section. You have that innocent quality in your voice with great time and control. It's jazz - not show tunes or pop so thanks for that." John Heim, KCCK
