The latest CD by saxophonist Gerry Huggins, "From The Heart" is a smooth offering of heart-touching songs. Featuring mostly original compositions, this CD is very calming and will leave you completely relaxed. With help from musicians John Belcher and Holly Day, this CD is a must for saxophone lovers worldwide.

Gerry Huggins started playing saxophone at age 9. Although he entered college with hopes of becoming a computer programmer, and ended up receiving a B.A. in Communications from Cal State University, Bakersfield, he continued to play his saxophone. He won the Oustanding Musician award his senior year in high school, and two Most Outstanding Musician awards during two years in the Bakersfield College Jazz Ensemble. He also won two Outstanding Soloist awards during two appearances at the Fullerton College Jazz Festival. His professional career would begin in the mid-1990's, where he was asked to record with local band "The Pleasure Merchants" on their second CD, "Rhyme or Reason." From that point, he went on to play in several local bands, including "Thee Majestics", "T.O.S.B (The Old School Band)", and "The Rhythm Kings." While working with other bands allowed Huggins to explore various types of music, he realized his true desire was smooth jazz. His work with keyboardist Darnell Gholston proved to be very inspirational, as he discovered the impressive style of smooth jazz with R&B grooves. He is also very proficient in funk, jazz, and old school styles, and is versatile enough to do anything from classical to big band. He has released three CDs: " Ocean Breeze (2002)", " A Very Special Christmas (2005)" , and " From The Heart (2007)". He is currently working on several new projects. Huggins continues to freelance in the Southern California area. He is married and has a son, and resides in Bakersfield, CA.
