Details:
Although Coco Pele classify themselves as "just a rock band", their self-titled debut album displays a much more diverse and creative approach to the "rock" genre. Lead singer and guitarist Joel Klimes states, "We're centering in on appealing to different crowds by not being exclusive to any one style of music." The often-modest musician goes on to say, "...as long as we keep away from conforming to the norm and continue writing music that makes us happy, we've succeeded."

The first track, "Sad is Factory" begins with an infectious beat evolving into a guitar-driven song with hints of Chili Peppersesque funky transitions woven throughout. The album continues with "Two Wheels", an almost punk rock tribute to the beautiful scenery of downtown Boise, Idaho where the band currently resides. "Cheap as Dirt", "Stimuli For Bliss", and "Deep in the Knee" stick to the more fundamental rock roots, giving listeners something familiar to nod their heads to. The song "Clothing For a Sheep" is a wonderful collage of Police-like beats and heavy choruses with musical interludes that even your mama can groove to. The album's closer "Next Year" brings a definite fluidity and melodic essence to the table that few "popular" bands are able to duplicate.
