Kim Koren began performing at the tender age of four, sitting on her father's knee and singing while he strummed his banjo. From that moment on, she knew that music would be the driving force in her life. When she turned 19, her dad bought her an acoustic guitar for Christmas, and she taught herself to play by writing her own songs. Born and raised in Dundas, Ontario, Kim has a burning desire to see the world. Her music is described as a blend of country, rock, and blues.
"Growing up I loved to listen to old country and rock'n'roll. I never followed the latest trend. When my friends were listening to Queen and STYX, I had Elvis Presley and The Monkees on my turntable".
"I was lucky enough to have exposure to big band, barbershop quartet, and blues too".

Live performances are Kimâs strength. They are full of energy and enthusiasm, and reveal her need to connect with the audience. "Being on stage for me is a chance to spread my wings and soar. I completely lose myself in the songs I write" Lyrically, her songs speak of love, loss, truth, and things that make her happy. The demand for Kim's well-written songs and beautiful voice have led to her performing across southern Ontario for the past 5 years, sharing stages with Harrison Kennedy, Dean McTaggart, Ray Materick, Mike Trebilcock, Danny Brooks, and most recently, the great pleasure of opening for Tim Gibbons with Bob Lanois, and Kelly Jay with Trickbag at the Hamilton Music Awards.

Her new cd, âSun Went Downâ, was released May 16th, 2007, due to overwhelming demand from her fans. It is being hailed as âpowerfully writtenâ with âa voice that could melt butterâ. The immediate response is that âthese songs are well crafted and strongly presented with huge cross-over potential and pop sensibilityâ.
"I had a lot more control over this album, and a stronger sense of what the overall feel should be".
The responses so far have been it's romantic, great storytelling, it made me cry, it made me laugh and I can't stop singing along!, and it's a gem.


Kim's self-produced debut CD "Simple" was recorded under the name of Punchbuggy Yellow (her band), and is still receiving much attention since its release in 2003.

In July, 2007, Kim will be touring through Europe as an acoustic duo to promote the new cd, and will return in August to play Festival Of Friends in Hamilton, ON.
