Details:
The Nathan Nicholas Project is a one-man band from Burleson, Texas.
Nathan started writing lyrics when he was 12 years old, and bought his first electric guitar when he was 13. Nathan started teaching himself how to read tabs and he learned a few select chords. He then felt drawn to the solo-acoustic scene towards the end of his 8th grade year (2006). He then bought himself an acoustic guitar, and continued to teach himself. He then decided he needed a few lessons just to get pushed towards the right direction. He ended up taking from a lady named Julie, who was a lot of fun and gave him lots of opportunities. He says none of this could have happened without her guidance.
Nathan wrote his first song in May of 2006 titled "Without You", and then about two weeks later played it at the school's talent show in front of nearly 1,000 people. He said he loved the feeling he had when he was up there, and wanted to continue doing live performances.
He spent his June and July of 2006 playing at local coffee shops. He didn't take it serious, he just played covers and a few songs he had written, and just loved it all. In the end of July and the beginning of August, he wanted to start becoming serious. He had been inspired by musicians and bands such as Secondhand Serenade (solo-artist), The Scene Aesthetic, Making April, Holiday Parade, and many more young, not necessarily known, promising musicians.
Nathan went through some troubles coming up with a name for his project. He went through names such as "Nathan Nicholas Acoustic", "Nathan Nicholas Acoustic Project", "Nathan Nicholas", and other creative names that his friends helped with. An idea then struck him; to just title his project "The Nathan Nicholas Project". It stuck, and anyone who knows Nathan knows of TNNP (The Nathan Nicholas Project).
Nathan went on to write around 12 songs while he was 14. He loved writing lyrics and music. "I just wanted to reach people, have teenagers across America be able to relate to the lyrics somehow; have them look deeper into the songs than just the words", said Nathan.
He turned 15 in May of 2007, and a few weeks later, he started recording his EP, TNNP. Although he had written many songs; he only wanted to put six on the cd.
He also loved his studio engineer Aarom Meador. "Aarom would tell me if something sounded sucky or if something would sound cool", Nathan said.
He finished his EP in July of 2007, and immediately got great feedback on the few songs he posted on his myspace. He released the EP that July, and it definitely sounds great. It features instruments such as: Acoustic guitar, soft electric guitar, cello, resonator, and high-string guitars.
Some say he's the future Andrew de Torres of The Scene Aesthetic. Most say he has a unique style of indie-acoustic music that draws listeners to him and him being 15 just astonishes all individuals who listen to his music.
Nathan performs all music, writes all lyrics, sings all vocals, and designed all of the album designing. Expect much from this rising teen!
