the music on this cd was originally written for the swiss feature film
'marmorera' by director markus fischer. it was recorded mostly with a 65 piece orchestra with minimal electronics added later. featuring don li on clarinet and bass clarinet and skuli sverrisson on bass.
peter scherer is a new york based composer and producer with a multifaceted career encompassing music for film and dance, producing, arranging and playing. he has worked with artists from across the spectrum of contemporary music such as laurie anderson, kip hanrahan, caetano veloso, arto lindsay, bill frisell, marc ribot, nana vasconcelos and john zorn, collaborating on numerous recording projects and performances.
in the dance world he has written scores for choreographer amanda miller and frankfurt ballet ('pretty ugly' and 'no wild ones'), the zurich opera ballet ('essey and pannes') and for ginette laurin and 'o vertigo danse montreal ('luna', 'passare' and 'les petites feintes').
other releases : 'passare', 'cronologia' (tzadik) and 'very neon pet' (metro blue, out of print)
