West Coast Revival started out as a youth band in 1999. The original band started out with Jonathan and Ryan Baird as the principle songwriters and leaders of the band with Zach Boomsma on drums and Sean Curran on Bass. Sean had never even picked up a bass but he was a close friend and the other guys didnât give him much choice but little did we know the virtuoso bass player within. For years WCR, has been active in their church and played around the country for youth retreats and conferences related to their group of churches, Sovereign Grace Ministries. As the main writers, Jonathan and Ryan continued to write songs for the band, several of which began to get more widespread attention at Sovereign Grace Ministries. In 2003 their song Your Beauty and Your Majesty, was featured on the album All We Long To See, in which Ryan also sang the lead vocal. Then in 2004 Ryan was invited back to sing three lead vocal tracks for the album âSongs for the Cross Centered Life.â Continuing to write and progress as a band, WCR began to gain interest from Sovereign Grace not only as writers but also as a band. In 2004 the oldest brother of Jonathan and Ryan Baird moved out to California and was added as an electric guitarist. Aaron Baird brought a wealth of experience having already recorded on several albums as well as having a song he co-wrote, Everlasting, featured as a title track on the Sovereign Grace Ministries album, Everlasting, in 1999. In 2005 the band was invited to Maryland to create a five song EP called Fuse, which opened the door for the band to record their first full length album and begin a relationship with writer/producer Steve Cook. West Coast Revivalâs first full album, released in October of 2006, was recorded at Citrus College in Azusa, California and engineered by Tim Jaquette. It was mixed by Sam Gibson, who also mixes Delirious, Chris Tomlin, Pearl Jam, and Newsboys, and mastered by the legendary Bob Katz. The project was co-produced by WCR and Steve Cook. ...
