XAVA was first introduced to music at Pilgrim Baptist Church, in the city of San Mateo , California at the age of 5. Throughout his formative years, XAVA was fascinated with the way music was âput togetherâ, so he learned how to compose and arrange words and music. He began singing commercials that came on television in competition (friendly of course!) with his âBig Sisterâ Joyceâ¦Who could REALLY SING!

This led him to learn how to play the guitar, piano and a little drums, with some serious encouragement from other musically endowed members of his family. Time and serious patience paid off and ultimately led him up the road to band development, group membership, support vocalist and recording artist. XAVA has been privileged to have worked with such notables as Rahn Coleman (noted musician and conductor), Donny Dee, William âMickeyâ Stevenson, JaâNet Dubois (formerly of Good Times), Leâ Richard (guitarist/writer/arranger/producer), Jim Gardiner (producer/engineer/owner-Pajama Studios, Oakland ,Ca.), David Stork (owner: STORKSOUNDS Studio), Joey Tarrantino ( Fantasy Recording Studios)
Terrenta Patton (engineer/producer/arranger/writer/performer/), Tony Saunders (owner Magic Castle Studios), Larry Batiste, Ollan Christopher Bell, etc.

XAVA has also toured as support vocalist for Manhattan Recording Artist Shirley Jones, opening for such groups and artist as Phyllis Hyman, Atlantic Starr, The OâJays, Levert, The Whispers and others, in venues ranging from the Tampa Bay Sun dome to The Apollo Theatre. With the release of his first solo album, XAVA wishes to showcase his acquired vocal/writing/performance/production skills with all who listen and hear where he is âComing Fromâ.
