Details:
Antoine Williams, better known as âFatz,â also known as The Mayor, is a young boastful rapper, born and raised in the streets of DC. His flamboyant, eclectic style of rap can captivate audiences of all kinds. You may have seen him performing at different venues over the years, including the Spot Club, the Lincoln Theatre, The Element, Aqua, Elements of Entertainment and even your block party.
Fatz began his rap career at the tender age of 13, as a member of a three-man group called The Royal Family. Lil Dre, Bobby and Fatz were under the management of Alfonzo a.k.a. Skinny and the label 48/49th Records. They were one of the youngest, hottest groups in DC at the time. The group recorded their first song at Sound Madness Studios in Mitchellville, MD. Being an amateur to the studio, it took Fatz over an hour to lay down his verse and what seemed like forever for the group to record one song. Nevertheless, The Royal Family eventually got the hang of it and began recording the groupâs debut album Family Jewelz. Unfortunately, Family Jewelz was never fully completed or released, but songs by The Royal Family can be heard on the 48/49th Compilation Volume I album.
After a couple of years with The Royal Family, Fatz and the group parted their ways while still perpetuating their friendships. It may have seemed like the end, but Fatz had a new venture he wanted to work on; the birth of his own enterprise, On 4 Life Records.
From On 4 Life Records came Fatzâs first solo album Boss of My Power. This album has hits like Built Like That, In My City, Dice-Gaterz and many more. It features artists like Young Cezar, The Royal Family and the Young Villians, just to name a few. Some of the inspiration for this album came from the loss of Fatzâs two best friends, one whom he recorded with often and is also featured on the album. Both friends were shot to death within a 4 month time span, during the development of his album.
Even though Fatz felt it would be hard to continue without his right hand men, he overcame the adversity, so he thought, and the album was a completed success. It was given a 4 out of 5 star review by 2 Sicc Reviews and pushed heavy units throughout the city, but even with this success, Fatz was still feeling the loss of his friends and took a short hiatus from rapping. The purpose of his hiatus was to evaluate his career. He knew he was doing enough to make it, but still wasnât sure if all his work would pay off in the end.
A few months after he went on his break, faith had returned to him once again. Fatz was looking to shoot a video for one of his singles. Not recalling how, he linked up with a local director, Weaze of Metroboys Entertainment. Weaze shot and produced videos for the singles In My City and Dice Gaterz. Somewhere in the mix of all the planning of the videos, Weaze offered to be Fatzâs manager and from there introduced Fatz to something else to add to his rosterâ¦.movies.
Fatz has theatrical appearances in three movies: âA Runnerâs Dreamâ and âKeepinâ It Gangsta,â which have been written and directed by Weaze, and âLorenzo and Monicaâ directed by Frank Jackson. Fatz has also been featured in publications such as Our Teen Magazine and The Washington Post.
Happy with the direction in which his career was finally flowing, Fatz couldnât wait to see it escalate further and little did he know, he would not wait long. His uncle put his CD into the hands of the Co-CEO of Tri-E Entertainment, Dirickson Muhammad. After Fatz and Muhammadâs random early morning conversation, Muhammad expressed to Fatz that he was interested in signing him. They later met face to face and from that point on Fatz finally knew that Tri-E was the right fit for him and now is the time to make the best of it.
