Beautiful Music For the Soul
14 MP3 Songs
HIP-HOP/RAP: Alternative Hip Hop, HIP-HOP/RAP: Hip Hop
Details:
After releasing their promotional EP called Touched, Amyas has been attempting to emerge as one of the premier Hip-Hop groups in Northern Florida. As their efforts rise, they remember to make music that is commercially viable but intellectually inspiring. The Jacksonville based rappersâ hard-hitting music has been able to educate and entertain simultaneously.
With State of Mind, their debut album released independently under their moniker Positive Movement, Amyas has ushered us into their career-defining work. This is a polished collection showcasing their advanced lyricism and their penchant for creating music that resonates long after the song ends. "State of Mind is the ultimate conceptual album, but it gives you a foray of sounds and topics," Elaborate explains. "The key to making good music is being candid by coming from the heart coupled with having something that is universally important to say."
Throughout State of Mind, the group delivers powerful music that sparks your imagination and makes your body move. In an industry littered with repetition, Amyas displays an impressive range of styles and sensibilities--whether easy going lyrics on "Donât Stop the Beat," to reflecting on the mysteries of the heart on "Loved," or speaking on abuse on "Dry Tears" (featuring Yamileh âYammieâ Marcellus)
They team with other artists like Earl Elkins of 4:2 Five on "Same Road." Over militaristic drums and a minimalist groove, Mewszick makes brash declarations on how he overcame the struggles of a bad environment. "Rise" tackles American jingoism in a time of terror (the Virginia Tech Massacre), providing a much-needed dose of perseverance when facing tragedies. The album also houses production by The Stereotypes (âSmileâ & âFeel the Rushâ) while exhibiting intelligence and progression and as they usher in the New Era of Conscious hip-hop.
