Babayaga Ojo, five-piece punk rock band from Puszczykowo â Poland, has been compared to bands such as Guano Apes and Blade Loki; however, the group sticks out âlike a boner in sweatpants amongst the masses of average bands.

They have claim to a rich underground history dating as far back as the birth of punk â 1984, and the ability to grow to new audiences because of bilingualism of the members (Vocalist can speak several languages, and guitarist is from America).

The name Babayaga Ojo has always been correlated as a cross between good old original punk and modern advancements in technique, creating a sound that will melt anyoneâs face

The band officially was created in April 1985, founded by Bangolot. At the time, the group was called Cmentarna Elita, and later the name changed to Babayaga Ojo and it stuck. Successes that the band earned were first place at the âPoza KontrolÄâ festival in Warsaw of 1986, and in the same year an appearance on the stage of the Jarocin Festival. In 1987, the band recorded their Demo at the Winogrady Student Radiostation, were songs such as âZaÅogowcy, Co Wy Robicie!?â, and âLondynâ were immortalized. Then, the group played many concerts alongside the then-crawling Pidzama Porno, ChmielobraniÄ in Nowym TomyÅl, Wysokie Mazowieckie, Walbrzych and others.

Practices were held at Bangolotâs home in different locations, from the garage, to the attic, and to the bathroom, were the drummer sat on the toilet due to lack of space, the bassist stood in the tub, and the rest somehow fit. Many friends and guests would show up at the practices, which made the local store clerk very happy, since cheap wine went by the caseload! Sometimes these parties lasted several days.

After recording their next demo in 1992, in a new line-up and arrangement, the band gave out the cassette âZdusi was trupi smród/Goodbye Nancy Spungenâ.

Suddenly, Bangolot stopped all the band activity. Unfortunately, in 2002 he was killed in a car accident, and with him vanished the dream of Babayaga Ojo.

In 2003, during a reunion, KoÅ, Kostek, and KóbeÅ decided to reanimate Babayaga Ojo and thus continue his dream. Eventually in 2004, KóbeÅ put the band together, with him was KoÅ and two from the old legend were together again. However it wasnât what KóbeÅ expected and the line-up changed again. Kostek appeared at a practice and KóbeÅ pursuaded him to join, giving him authority to lead the group. Everything starts coming together. KoÅ leaves the band, and Doris and Domin join. After a year with Babayaga Ojo Domin left to start his own project. He recorded with the band and his last performance was Sep.13, 2006. At the same time, Cocot joined and KóbeÅ discovered guitarist Adrian, ex-RadioZDead from USA. Both are featured on the recording with Domin. The main assembly of Babayaga Ojo is a mix of punk veterans and ambitious youth.
