Details:
Sun And Moon Project:
I began writing tunes for âSun And Moonâ in 2003. The CD is 15 original guitar-based instrumental songs that were written with an emphasis on melody and groove. Once I began, the songs just kept flowing. Creating grooves with nice melodies was exciting and seemed to come easily for me. My musical influences include a wide range of styles and colors over many decades. As a result, this CD contains elements of smooth jazz, R&B, country and soft rock in a relaxed musical bed of backing strings, synth, and piano.
I contacted my good friend, Herb Allen, to assist me in co-producing, arranging, as well as playing vibes on several tracks and composing the string parts.
Another long-time friend, producer David Mackay, offered to produce and do the final mix. David suggested putting down some live drums and arranged for Bob Jenkins, a terrific and talented English drummer to play on the tracks.
Herb Allen and I arranged the basic tracks at his studio here in Tucson. I then moved the project to England where Bob and Dave worked their magic.
Iâm very proud of the results and want to thank you for your interest. Please feel free to share any comments you might have by contacting: bob@bobhuffmusic.com I would love to hear from you.

The Players:

Bob Huff:
My love for music began early in life. With the U.S. invasion by the Beatles at age ten, learning how to play the guitar became a must. Within a couple of years, I was forming and playing in bands in my hometown of Yuma, Arizona. In 1972, after graduation from high school and at the insistence of Taylor McBride, a very influential music teacher, I traveled the U.S. and Europe as a guitarist and vocalist with the international musical, Up With People. Between 1974 and 1979, I was the lead guitarist of ARIZONA, a pop-rock band that toured throughout the U.S. and recorded four albums for RCA Records. In 1979, I took a short 25 year hiatus from music and began a career with the Tucson Police Department. I continued to play occasional gigs and studio sessions until retirement in 2004. I am now back in the music business full-time and continuing to write and record my original music as well as perform session work.

Herb Allen:
Herb is a brilliant, classically trained musician, arranger and teacher. As musical director of Up With People for more than 30 years, Herb not only helped thousands of students from many nations to develop their special musical talents, he also promoted peace, understanding and tolerance of other cultures and lifestyles worldwide. Herb currently operates a small recording studio in Tucson, Arizona where he produces, composes, arranges and teaches musical arranging and vocals. Iâve known and collaborated with Herb on various musical projects over the last 34 years. Herb brings his unique enthusiasm to every project in which he is involved. I am privileged and blessed to have him as a partner and co-producer on this project.

David Mackay:
Dave first became involved in musical theater and recording engineering in Sydney, Australia and was later hired by EMI as an engineer and record producer. After his first effort went to #1 in Australia, Dave became head of Artists and Repertoire (A&R) for EMI Australia. He subsequently produced 30 hits as well as discovering some of Australiaâs top talents. While at EMI, Dave went to Londonâs Abbey Road Studios where he continued to engineer and produce. After leaving EMI to become an independent record producer, Dave scored many hit records with artists such as Bonnie Tyler, Cilla Black, Cliff Richard, The New Seekers, Billy Ocean, John Parr, Jimmy Webb, Harry Nilsson, Dusty Springfield, and many others. In the 70âs Dave produced and engineered four albums on RCA Records for âArizonaâ, the band in which Bob Huff was lead guitarist. Dave is currently self-employed as an independent musical supervisor and producer of musical theater in England, Australia and the U.S.

Bob Jenkins:
British drummer Bob Jenkins began playing many years ago with his parents in modern jazz groups. He has toured and/or recorded with diverse artists including Sheena Easton, Kiki Dee, Elton John, Leo Sayer, Andy Williams, Jack Bruce, Richard Thompson and Van Morrison. Bob currently plays in Be Sharp, a very popular English band (www.besharp.co.uk).

Sam Huff:
This CD is lovingly dedicated to the memory of my daughter, Sam Williams Huff, whose love of music was as great as mine. Sam was proudly serving in the U.S. Army during Operation Iraqi Freedom when on April 17th, 2005 her life was taken when an improvised explosive device (IED) was detonated next to her Humvee. Sam was 18 years old and served with the 170th Military Police Company, 504th Military Police Battalion, 42nd Military Police Brigade deployed from Fort Lewis, Washington. She was buried with full military honors at Arlington National Cemetery. Sam is featured playing the flute (at age16) on the title track, âSun And Moonâ.
God bless Sam and all of the military men and women who bravely protect our freedoms. We will never forget you.

Thanks for listening,
Bob Huff
