FOLK: Modern Folk, FOLK: Power-folk
Details:
National award-winning singer and songwriter, Cosy Sheridan has won both the Kerrville NewFolk songwriting contest and the Telluride Bluegrass Festival's Troubadour contest. She was also a winner at Falcon Ridge Folk Festival's songwriting contest.
Cosy and her music have played everywhere from Carnegie Hall to the Dr. Demento Show. The Boston Globe said: "A wonderfully lively, very funny and enormously amiable entertainer, with a keen and wicked eye for the excesses of our fast-food, tv-happy and noisome culture."
The Album Network wrote: "Sheridan still remains the unapologetic voice of our conscience. Whether she's addressing environmental issues or social injustice or interpersonal abuse, she deftly delivers the message with honesty and grace."
The Albuquerque Journal called her "a buddhist monk in a twelve-step program, trapped in the body of a singer-songwriter."
And finally, Acoustic Guitar Magazine said this about Cosy's cd "Anthymn": "If I were going to throw an all-girl dinner party at which I wanted to laugh and cry from the hors d'oeuvres to the chocolate pudding, Cosy Sheridan is the first woman I'd invite. And if she were out of town, I'd make do by playing Anthymn really loud."
