COYOTE GRACE is the Seattle-based acoustic duet comprised of Joe Stevens, a transman singer/songwriter from California and graduate of Cornish College of the Arts, backed up by Ingrid Eyen on vocals and upright bass, a sassy femme originally hailing from the hills of Southeastern Ohio. Partners on and off stage, their love of music and for each other permeates every song, conveyed through smooth harmonies, driving roots rhythms, and captivating lyrics of raw life experience.

Drawing from a wealth of Americana traditions, from blues to bluegrass, COYOTE GRACE builds on the legacy of singer/songwriters born to boldly transform the face of American folk music, such as Joni Mitchell, James Taylor, Indigo Girls, Gillian Welch, Bob Dylan, and Ani Difranco.

COYOTE GRACE uses acoustic folk instrumentation and subconscious wordcraft to twist and mold traditional folk forms into a new breed of complex, soulful songsmithing, creating timeless yet unique snapshots into the core of human fallibility.

With their debut studio album, aptly titled âBoxes & Bagsâ, Coyote Grace pays homage to the trademarks of their nomadic troubadour lifestyle, while subtly hinting at the weightless yet wearying baggage the soul bears everyday.

âBoxes & Bagsâ features 12 original tracks of acoustic alt-folk sounds, weaving fabrics of upbeat folkgrass, front-porch blues, lovesick serenades, broody funk, and freight train folk rock into a curious tapestry conveying themes of transformation, introspection, and the impermanence of identity.

Joeâs honest and raw lyrics peel back the skin to reveal struggles with addiction, love, and loss through moments of stagnation, balance, and constant motion. His soft husky vocals glow with the weathered, colorful grace of rusted metal, while his roots-driven rhythms and soothing fingerpicking style set a timeless backdrop for his poetic confessionals. With shadowy harmonies and soulfully swung basslines, Ingrid steadies the pulse and gives the songs a full-bodied weight. Much of the album is an authentic depiction of the acoustic duoâs live sound, with Seattle-based drummer Lindsay Vari adding a subtle driving intensity to a few tunes.
