The Covenant Messengers is a contemporary/traditional quartet gospel singing group, consisting of eight handsome young men, ranging from ages 15 to 25 years-old. Each group member is a gifted singer, songwriter, and/or musician. Jerome Wheeler (lead vocals), Cameron Tate (tenor), Tony Wheeler Jr. (tenor), Derrick Jenkins (alto), Marcus Jenkins (soprano, lead guitar), Nicholas Sapp (bass), Cory Perry (drums), and Eric Barefield (organ). The group hails from Bakersfield, California.

Beginning early in 2006 these young men began ministering at various local events including, the Kern County Fair, the Bakersfield Stop the Violence Rally and many other religious programs, rallies and concerts at various churches. As a result of their unforeseen popularity, they have been blessed with numerous opportunities to travel throughout the valley including, opening for the Jackson Southernaires in Bakersfield, CA, singing at Bishop Noel Jones V100 Worship Experience in Los Angeles, CA and setting a positive example in Fresno CA, at the Macedonia Youth Explosion, just to name a few. Heightened interest in the Covenant Messengers allowed them to host their first concert, Christmas with The Covenant Messengers, at the St. John Baptist Church, in Bakersfield, CA.
God has also blessed them to be the 2007 Grand Prize Winners of the Christian Music Awards, hosted by Tye Tribbett in Fresno, Ca.

Although the Covenant Messengers are not focused on popularity, the favor of God is obviously upon these young men. They serve as a much needed positive force in our local communities, breaking boundless stereotypes and providing other youth with an occasion to celebrate the possibilities available to everyone willing to maintain a life of prayer, praise and discipline. Their message is, if you remain in the Will of God, His covenant promises of victory, power, and success are yours.
