Details:
Chris Price's debut album POST POP PARADE is, fundamentally, a collection of pop tracks. "pop" in this sense can be better described as "post-pop" or "anti-pop", paying homage not to today's generally vacuous notions of commercial radio pop, but more to the fun, catchy, primarily independent genres that spawned most of our favorite records from the 80's and 90's.

While the return of alternative pop ideals is some serious business, Chris Price approaches it the way it should be done -- POST POP PARADE is an upbeat, lighthearted joyride from beginning to end.

Over the course of 12 original tracks, POST POP PARADE combines synth-pop, new wave, freestyle, and electro with a few sprinkles of straight pop elements thrown in for good measure. The result is a modern day marvel that recalls days gone by in which "pop" wasn't such a four-letter word.

And, by the way, the songs are actually good. Packed with driving synthesizers, angular guitar lines, and truly catchy hooks, POST POP PARADEâs complex simplicity is reminiscent of such acts as New Order, Pet Shop Boys, The Human League, and Depeche Mode, just to name a few.

The blueprint for âpost-popâ? Proof that a fun, well-crafted pop album can exist today, and not just in our collective memory? The beginning of the end for modern day commercial pop radio?

We sure hope so. At the very least, it's a step in the right direction.

Futures and Pasts (biography information)
-----------
In the early-to-mid 1980âs, Chris Priceâs music gained popularity, particularly in the world of adult entertainment. Recording under the pseudonym DâCrescendo, his original compositions quickly became a mainstay -- oftentimes overshadowing even the actors and storylines of the films themselves.

During this experimental time period, Chrisâs unique combination of synth-pop, new wave, and electro musical stylings unquestionably contributed to the dramatic increase in video sales. In fact, it soon became common knowledge among industry insiders that many consumers were purchasing and viewing films strictly âfor the music.â

Astoundingly, during these creative years, Chris -- still not yet old enough to legally purchase and/or view said movies â was oblivious to the recognition he was receiving for his hard work. Fame (realized or not), however, came with a price. Royalty checks were often wholly distributed to managers and agents, or simply âlost in the mail.â

Just as Chris was coming into majority age, the adult entertainment industry was moving on to a new era of background music â copycat producers simply mimicking top 40 radio in an attempt to appeal to the commercial tastes of the general population. With no interest in sacrificing his creative principles, or keeping such company simply for the almighty dollar, Chris shed his DâCrescendo identity.

Now, without his primary source of revenue, Chris entered a particularly low period, producing background instrumental tracks for The Weather Channel (during local forecast segments) as well as several Washington, D.C. area cable pay-per-view âpreviewsâ stations. Even in these lowly forums, Chrisâ work did not go unnoticed. One viewer -- a prominent (religious-themed) film director -- took notice and signed Chris to compose soundtracks for a series of straight-to-video productions. While seemingly unfamiliar territory, these films essentially embodied the bad acting of adult video â minus the sex scenes. Chris brought a sound to these films never heard before. Noted underground GXN (âGangsta Christianâ) rapper Geto Deacon was inspired to the point that he constructed his debut solo album almost entirely on a foundation of (unauthorized) Chris Price samples.

Recently, while re-visiting his 80âs-90âs original DâCrescendo master tapes, Chris was inspired to produce an album of original materialâ¦paying homage to the music he loved -- this time with vocals. Now, having meticulously crafted 12 tracks of âpost-pop,â Chris Price embarks on a new stage in his music career with the 2007 release of POST POP PARADE on his record label, Future Forward.
