Details:
After the eruption of Mount Saint Helens in 1980, Deceptikon was born out of the ash and dried magma of Northwest Cascadia. Recently relocated to Tokyo via Seattle, he spends his time making music for the future, a soundtrack for retro-minded space travelers and skiff-jumpers from the 23rd dimension. The Deceptikon Industries studio, orchestrated by mastermind Zack Wright, is the basis for all operations.

The first Deceptikon 12", released on Merck Records in 2004, was sold out only four months after the initial pressing. Greater Cascadia is his sophomore album, a follow-up to the critically acclaimed debut album Lost Subject. Greater Cascadia is a work almost five years in the making, and is set to destroy the past and recreate the future from the remaining fragments. The track "Montana", a next level bass driven glitch-hop opus, features a contribution from Cyne, the acclaimed Gainesville hip-hop group with releases on City Centre Offices and Botanica Del Jibaro.

Greater Cascadia was recorded in home studios throughout the Cascadian region, primarily in Seattle, Olympia, and Vancouver, Canada. The album is a collection of fifteen songs, sewn and collaged together in the Deceptikon Industries studios with the support of heavy caffeine consumption and sleepless nights. Careful ears with notice samples cut up and edited far beyond human recognition, punchy and dust-covered kicks and snares, Fender Rhodes piano, synthesizers, accordions, and the occasional intangible field recording.

Airports and rental cars are almost like a second home to Deceptikon - he has toured extensively throughout the US, Canada, and Japan. He has shared the stage with Funkstorung, Daedelus, Richard Devine, Machine Drum, Lusine, edIT, Dose One, Blue Scholars, Truckasaurus, Proem, Deru, Safety Scissors, [A]pendics Shuffle, Books On Tape, Nudge, Strategy, Twine, Solenoid, and Brothomstates (among many others).

Critical praise for Deceptikon:

"Dilla comparisons might be in order ... a track like "Almond Groves" has all the organic warmth and grit, in addition to the subtle synthetic undertones, of a Ummah-era Jay Dee production." -- Okayplayer.com

"As Portland's first laptop battle winner, Deceptikon has a winning combination--solid beats, cool sounds, and interesting songwriting. His ability to keep heads bobbing with hiphop rooted breakbeats and a large palate of sounds helped him win the battle; these are both what makes his debut full length so hot." -- The Portland Mercury

"If Lost Subject doesn't make you a believer of Deceptikon, then his brilliant live shows recently featured in the Raiders Of The Lost Crunk tour - as well as his status as Portland's first laptop battle winner - surely will." -- Igloomag

"A delicious amalgam of hip-hop, soul, and electropop." -- Textura.org
